American 1975-Tony Trunzo is best known for his spontaneous lines and energetic style. He is a visual contemporary artist that explores “ideal beauty” through a variety of different subject matter, materials and mediums. Most notably his large scale oil stick on wood panel portraits have confronted the viewer with the question: “can beauty be bought and sold”. His charismatic personality translates directly into his work and draws a variety of creative people to his studio. Trunzo has collaborated with designers, photographers, writers and music producers throughout the word. His most recent collaboration was an en plein air project with composer Uli Beck in Cologne Germany.
Currently Trunzo is working with a variety of power tools in order to “break the picture plane” of his paintings.“I hope to shed light on the pressures of visual ideal outer beauty. The harshness and danger of the circular saw cutting through wood to reveal what we consider a beautiful face highlights the struggle/pressure of what it means to be beautiful.”
